WASHINGTON—The number of idled U.S. workers filing new claims for unemployment benefits fell last week, reversing a spike in the previous period and signaling continued improvement in the job market.
Initial jobless claims decreased by 13,000 to a seasonally adjusted 403,000 in the week ended April 16, the Labor Department said Thursday in its weekly report.
