My therapist filed claims under the wrong insurance provider. Am I responsible for the previous payments?

My therapist has someone whose job is to specifically file insurance claims. The back of my card says that mental health claims go through a different company. I didn't realize this and it took the lady at my therapists office 6 weeks to figure this out. Shouldn't she have read my card and figured this out before 6 weeks? I've called and the company will pay from 9/29 - end of year . Am I responsible for the previous 6
